- In this game, every player is given a set number of “foot wedges” or “Portuguese caddies”, meaning permission to move their ball to a better location by kicking it without incurring a penalty. The rule for kicking the ball is to kick it out of trouble, not into a hole.
- When playing with handicaps, lower handicappers get lesser foot wedges than higher handicappers.
