  • In a Box Tournament, the four players of a team play their own balls for each hole, but the scores of only two net balls are counted for each hole.
  • From holes 1 to 16, one of the net balls must be from the person in the tee box. For tournaments with 48 players or less, it is recommended that each team have a good, better, best, and premo player. The order for the box assignments is as follows:

Player A (Good) Holes: 1, 5, 9, 13
Player B (Better) Holes: 2, 6, 10, 14
Player C (Best) Holes: 3, 7, 11, 15
Player D (Premo) Holes: 4, 8, 12, 16

  • In a Box Tournament, the four players of a team play their own balls for each hole, but the scores of only two net balls are counted for each hole.
  • For holes 17 and 18, two low net balls of any player can be selected.
  • The team with the lowest net score for 18 holes at the end of the round wins the tournament.

Variation

Three-player Box Tournament:

Although most commonly played in teams of four, the Box Tournament can also be played in teams of three. In case of a threesome, the box assignments remain the same for players A, B, and C, i.e., Player A’s net balls are selected on holes 1, 5, 9, and 13, Player B’s net balls are selected on holes 2, 6, 10, and 14, and Player C’s on holes 3, 7, 11, and 15. For holes 4, 8, 12, and 16, the missing player is considered to have scored a net bogey, and on holes 17 and 18, they are deemed to have scored a net par.
