Blind Nine

Type Stroke
Alias Blind 9, Blind Hole
Format Tournament
Number of players 2,3,4
Team or Individual play Team
  • This game is usually played with four-player teams, although it can also be played with three or two-player teams.
  • Blind Nine is played like a regular scramble, but only nine out of 18 holes count as the team’s final score. However, the catch is that the team doesn’t know which holes will be counted until the round is over.
  • Tournament organizers wait for all teams to tee off and then randomly select the nine holes whose scores will be used for the final score. While some tournament organizers use a random number generator or other golf softwares to select the Blind Nine holes, others prefer to be a bit more systematic and choose three par-3 holes, three par-4 holes, and three par-5 holes.
  • Blind Nine is usually played with full handicaps but can also be played using three-quarter handicaps.
  • The team with the highest score at the end of the round is declared the winner.
